Welcome all Facilitators

D
ear Jacqui

This newsletter is a special edition just for facilitators to cover the participant invitation process and to let you know of two exciting upcoming events.

The first being the process of registering on our site and to give you heads up on what will be sent to your students enrolling in your course.mobile2.png
The second is to remind you of our upcoming facilitator chat. A chat just for you and to give you access to our team. We would love to hear your feedback.

And finally, to give you the date of our next Facilitator Refresher Day in August.
June 4, 2015

Facilitator Training

To be a facilitator you need to be willing to share your advanced knowledge on dementia, have a commitment to seeing others educated in dementia and the ability to support participants as they work their way through the courses.

If you have a group of people who are eager to attend training or a group of facilitators that would like a refresher then let us know.

If you have access to a room with PCs that have internet access – even better!

We have a waiting list of people keen to sign up and get started.

Registration and Enrolment
We are being asked frequently: When will facilitators start inviting their own students to the site and courses? After the site rebuild many things changed - this included the way people are invited to join a course. It is important to us that we have the process right before we hand the task back to each of you. Therefore we want to make sure everything is working as it should. So for now the Dementia Care team will continue to support and assist with this process.

One way you can assist us with the invitations is ensuring that email addresses forwarded to us are correct. Incorrect emails cause a lot of issues, both for us, the student and the facilitator. To alleviate this we would ask that facilitators "test" the emails before sending their list to us. You can do this by sending out an email advising the student/s that the Dementia Care Network will be sending them an invitation and to make sure they check their spam/junk/trash emails just in case they are automatically directed there by the student's email program. This is also a good opportunity to introduce yourself and any other facilitators and to give your students your contact details.

Recently we have found that some students are accessing the competency framework rather than going to the course they are enrolled in. We suggest you include a friendly reminder in your email to your students before they receive their invitation about what course they are doing. You can also direct them to watch the video on how to register and enrol.

The link to video is in the invitations we send to students.

We would recommend that all facilitators watch the short video on registration or alternatively read the transcript to understand how the process works.

Facilitator Refresher Day
fac-day-2015.png
The DementiaCare team will hold another facilitator refresher day at the University of NSW in Randwick.  Past sessions have always been well received and we hope to see you there.

The date set will be:

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Those who have attended past sessions were able to ask questions of the team about facilitating and any issues that they may have come across.

We will also be showcasing the new competency tool that will be formally released in the coming months. We currently have a pilot group testing and reviewing the process.

If you can attend drop us an email so we can lock in a place for you.
